STAFF REPORT IBD: The first ever science centre in Punjab will be set up at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur soon as a plan in this regard has been finalised.
“Selection of the Islamia University set up science centre has been has been made purely on merit,” said Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) Chairman Dr Khalil Ahmed said this after his recent meeting with Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Dr Mukhtar.
He said that the meeting decided to jointly work for the promotion of science in South Punjab. Besides, research in related fields and a Science Caravan would also be part of the project to provide all basic and necessary information and guidance to the students about the latest progress and development in the field.
Dr. Khalil added that his organisation was utilising all resources for the promotion of science and technology. South Punjab has been given priority to explore talent and to contribute in this areas uplift as the students would avail these facilities without any discrimination, he said.
The VC termed the decision a good sign for the promotion of science in the area and remarked it a big honour for the Islamia University which is a clear proof of its improvement and progress in academic and research fields.
