STAFF REPORT KHI: Agricultural credit disbursement by commercial banks has increased by 11 per cent to Rs118 billion during July-November 2013 as compared to Rs106.6 billion in the corresponding period of last year, revealed the data issued by the State Bank of Pakistan.


According to details, the SBP had provisionally allocated agricultural credit disbursement target of Rs360 billion to banks for the year 2013-14, while the banks have disbursed Rs118 billion in the first five months of current fiscal year, which is 33 per cent of the target.


The SBP said that five large banks have collectively disbursed agriculture loans of Rs70.6 billion or 39 per cent of their annual target, a 12 per cent rise from Rs63.2 billion disbursed during the corresponding period of last year.


MCB has achieved 48 per cent of its annual target, while NBP, HBL, UBL and ABL have achieved 42 per cent, 41 per cent, 31 per cent and 27 per cent of their individual targets, respectively, shows the data.


Among the specialised banks, ZTBL disbursed only Rs13.6 billion or 20 per cent against its target of Rs69.5 billion, while PPCBL achieved 19.6 per cent of its target by disbursing Rs1.76 billion during the period under review, the SBP said. The banks including, Sindh Bank, Bank of Khyber, Bank Al Habib, Silk Bank, Summit Bank and NIB Bank achieved 85 percent, 59 percent, 45 percent, 41 percent, 41 percent and 38 percent of their annual targets respectively.
