STAFF REPORT LHR: Power generation from bioSiePakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has inaugurated the first “National Student Satellite Programme (PNSSP) of Pakistan at SRDC-Lahore.


“The PNSSP has been launched with an idea to uplift the overall level of universities in the domain space technology through series of student satellites. In a nutshell, PNSS programme will benefit the education sector as well as space industry,” said Chairman SUPARCO, Maj General (R) Ahmed Bilal.


He also said that this imperative need has been voiced through SUPARCOs initiative about Pakistan National Student Satellite Programme.


About the PNSSP, the Chairman said, “The PNSSP will be implemented through collaboration between SUPARCO, and selected universities nationwide. Initially 25 universities/institutes having already established programmes in Engineering, Information Technology and Basic Sciences are selected based on ranking released by HEC.”


The PNSSP is being launched with an idea to uplift the overall level of universities/institutes in the domain space technology through series of student satellites.


SUPARCO has taken an initiative in the form of PNSSP, envisioning a long-term programme to involve, train and prepare university students for the high-tech space industry. The proposed programme is a way forward for sustainable and progressive student satellite development under the umbrella of SUPARCO.
