STAFF REPORT PSR: The Directorate of Science and Technology (DoST) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched a project under its developmental scheme titled Establishment of Design Facilitation and Training center (DFandTC) which is the first micro-hydro plant of its type in Pakistan.
According to details, it has been installed on an irrigation canal in district Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, having the generation capacity of 29.7 KVA.
The main feature of this hydro plant is its capacity of providing electricity from a simple canal system, an official of the project said this while talking to this scribe.
He also said that the project was materialized with the collaboration of Directorate of Science and Technology (DoST) and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI).
He termed this project a step toward coping with the energy crises by utilizing Hydro-power resources and added that with the establishment of this project, the local areas demand for electricity would met to much extent.
