COMSATS To Cooperate In National Genomic Sequencing Programs

A Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), an intergovernmental organisation with 27 Member States, and Syndesis Health Inc. A Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in “National Genomic Sequencing Programs” for the COMSATS Member States could be reached with the help of the LOI.

The United States’ Syndesis Health Inc. is a corporation with its corporate headquarters in New York. For businesses in the healthcare, life sciences, and biotechnology sectors, it speeds up research and innovation. Amb. Dr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, executive director of COMSATS, and Mr. Kamil Mehmood, co-founder and director of Syndesis Health Inc., signed the letter of intent for cooperation in “National Genomic Sequencing Programs”.

Through this partnership, the scientific communities and citizens of the COMSATS Member Countries will gain access to scientific knowledge, technical and technological know-how, and healthcare organisations will be given more power.

In addition to providing software and analytics powered by AI, the collaboration will develop technical programmes for scaling up the healthcare infrastructure in COMSATS Member States.

COMSATS currently has 27 developing nations from three continents—Africa, Asia, and Latin America—as members of its Commission (see list below). In order to ensure that member state cooperation opportunities are investigated with the support of their respective governments, focal points are designated in each of the member states.

These focal points in the member states are typically the ministries or government entities designated by the respective governments as being in charge of managing and governing S&T resources. Member States of COMSATS are entitled to a number of benefits and obligations as a result of their membership.

Hospitals, biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, and research institutions can all collaborate effectively on a truly global scale thanks to the Syndesis Health Network’s data and technology.

The Syndesis Data Platform, which offers secure access to real-world data sets sourced from numerous healthcare institutions in numerous nations, powers the Network. Millions of longitudinal, de-identified clinical records from a variety of patient populations with a wide range of common and rare diseases make up the data sets.
