The British Council Pak-UK Education Gateway Mobility Partnership project for faculty was won by the Institute of Physics at Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB).

According to Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice-Chancellor of Islamia University of Bahawalpur, the accomplishment was a testament to IUB’s high academic standards and level of teaching and research at the international level.

Universities from the UK and Pakistan will collaborate in this partnership to build connections between higher education in the UK and Pakistan. Universities from Pakistan and the UK who are applying will create a rigorous short-term mobility programme on various thematic areas.

The Pak-UK Education Gateway Mobility Partnership project on the theme of energy will be directed by Prof. Alan J. Drew from Queen Mary University of London and Dr. Kaneez Rabia from the Institute of Physics, IUB (generation, distribution, and conservation).

A total of 11 faculty members make up the Pakistani team for the project, with nine coming from the Institute of Physics at the IUB, one from COMSATS University Islamabad, and one from the Govt. Sadiq College Women’s University in Bahawalpur.

While the UK team for this project, made up of eight professors from Queen Mary University of London, will also stop by Islamia University in Bahawalpur.

The faculty and staff at Islamia University of Bahawalpur would gain skills in advanced characterization and analysis techniques through this program.

The UK team will set up a meeting with a number of other significant figures in the field of energy and battery research. Different team members will specify their areas of potential future collaboration between the Queen Mary University of London’s larger faculty and other UK universities.

The specifics of potential future funding plans involving international cooperation between Pakistan and the UK in the energy sector will also be on the agenda of this visit.

The Institute of Physics, IUB, will also host a scientific workshop where research students and faculty from the physics and chemistry departments will have the chance to directly interact with the UK delegation, opening up wider opportunities for collaboration.

Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob congratulated the project team and recognised the work of Dr. Kaneez Rabia, the project manager, and Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmad Buzdar, Dean of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Science, for encouraging the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to cooperate with other technologically advanced nations.
