The Punjab Job Center, established by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) in collaboration with the Labor & Human Resource Department (L&HRD), has registered more than 100,000 job seekers and more than 17,000 employers since its launch in August 2022.

Using the online platform, a link has been created between potential employers, promoters, employment exchange organisations, workers, job seekers, and citizens.

The online job portal contains a comprehensive database of working human capital (skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled) that includes both job seekers and employers from the public and private sectors.

“The establishment of Job Center is an important step towards helping the youth find employment in addition to facilitating employers through their access to a pool of talent,” PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said in his remarks.

At jobcenter.punjab.gov.pk, job seekers and employers in the public and private sectors can register as entrepreneurs or as employees. A database of the pool of available human resources in the Punjab region is also kept up to date by the Job Center.

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) is a government organization based in the province of Punjab, Pakistan. It was established in 1999 with the primary goal of promoting and implementing information technology initiatives to modernize various sectors and improve public service delivery in Punjab.

The board operates under the supervision of the Punjab government and is responsible for planning, developing, and executing IT-related projects and policies to harness the potential of technology for the benefit of citizens and the government.

PITB works across various domains, including e-governance, education, health, agriculture, and more, to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in government operations.

Pakistan’s labour force is expanding, so the government of the Punjab saw the need to establish a department that would be solely in charge of ensuring workers’ prosperity through the implementation of labour laws in Punjab.

Further, it was decided that the department would support worker welfare and defend their rights by upholding government regulations and labour laws. As a result, Punjab’s Labor & Human Resource Department was established in 1974.
