KP government laid off more than 3,000 contractual employees.
The KP government laid off more than 3,000 legally contractual employees due the miserable unavailability of funds and remittances that has arisen synchronously with the entrance of the current pandemic- Corona virus. The accurate figure of employees likely to lose their jobs is 3,541.  
 
These include the employees serving in different departments like: health, livestock, agriculture, planning, development, minerals and the FATA Development Authority since 2001. Instead of thousands of new recruitment in various departments, the provincial government is likely to fire the existing staff.
 
The government has prepared lists of employees working in projects in various departments of the tribal districts.
 
According to that list 1,855 employees work in the health department, 354 are employed in 20 projects regarding industry department, 758 people are engaged on 31 projects related to livestock and agriculture, 315 official are working of 16 projects concerned to planning and development department, two people are working on a maiden project of the finance department and one person is part of the information department. All of them have been served one month’s notice.
 
 
Apart from this, other employees who belong to various other department such as FATA Development Authority, irrigation department, mineral department, local government department, home department, Zakat department, energy department and the sports department will also be fired from their jobs as well.
 
Similarly, the closure of  departments such as veterinary medicine facilities result in a loss of 280 employees. This really echoes in the air a previous promise made by the current government concerned to offering five million job opportunities before the elections.
 
But there is another side to the picture as well, the government is hiring people, it has started to fire experienced staff on a month’s notice. “If the provincial government needs to recruit more people, the experienced people working in these projects should have been recruited on a priority basis,” he said.
 
All these projects were run on federally administered funds before the integration of the tribal districts in the province. However, now after the merger, the KP government has allocated funds for the said projects.
