Pakistan Single Window Integrates With Four Govt. Departments in Phase-II

As part of the initiative’s Phase-II implementation, Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has effectively linked its digital services with four government agencies.

A more complete and inclusive platform for trade facilitation is made possible by the integration of PSW’s digital services with the Mercantile Marine Department (MMD), the Marine Fisheries Department (MFD), the Ministry of Narcotics Control (MNC), and partially with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP). This allows these departments to ensure the prompt electronic issuance of certificates, licenses, and permissions to cross-border traders.

Additionally, PSW has effectively integrated with the Sindh Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control agency to collect provincial cess and provide other cross-border trade-related services.

While the PSW’s DRAP mechanism speeds up the registration and approval process for entities falling under its purview, the integration of the Pakistan Single Window system with MNC and MFD enables the online processing and issuance of Import Permits and Export Certificates, resulting in significant time and cost savings. For the import of old ships and boats, MMD may now electronically issue seaworthiness certifications by receiving applications online.

Syed Aftab Haider, the CEO of PSW, commented on the achievement by saying, “PSW is working to provide regulators and cross-border traders with a state-of-the-art digital experience to fulfill cross-border trade related compliance requirements, enabling a wider range of entities to benefit from our services while promoting transparency and driving overall economic growth. Without the assistance and dedication of other government agencies and partner groups working with us, we would not have been able to effectively meet the performance goals agreed upon with the government.

PSW is also holding training and informational workshops as part of the rollout process to proactively assist stakeholders in making the best use of the system. The PSW system has about 69,000 users, and its coverage in terms of locations, services, OGAs, and new modules is rapidly growing.

Through the platform’s online payment alternatives, PSW’s digitization services also enable merchants to perform financial transactions to the appropriate departments. Importers, exporters, and the processing personnel of the departments in accordance with previously linked regulatory departments can access completely harmonised and user-friendly interfaces through the Single Window environment.

As part of its phased deployment plan and the creation of a Port Community System, PSW continues to work on integrating more governmental organizations, including DRAP, TDAP, and BOI.
