Health Minister Calls For Efforts To Eliminate Vaccine Preventable Diseases

A meeting to assess the performance of the health department and the advancement of special measures was presided over by the caretaker chief minister of Punjab.

The CM expressed his satisfaction with the prompt treatment of heart patients provided by the drop-and-shift system during the meeting, while prioritising the completion of construction, repair, and maintenance projects in hospitals.

In addition, it was revealed that government hospitals would install CCTV cameras for emergencies and set up a special monitoring room for video and audio recording. In addition to discussing the proposal to increase health professional allowance, progress was noted in the health screening of prisoners and children with disabilities. The CM gave instructions for regular screenings every three months.

The meeting also covered plans to finish up repairs and renovations to the emergency ward at Children’s Hospital Lahore. It also covered plans to provide 200 ambulances for expectant mothers to ease hospital transfers. It was also announced that the “safe blood for Punjab” project would begin, with a focus on giving patients access to healthy blood.

The Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital will seek private collaboration to begin the angiography facility, and Mian Munshi Hospital Lahore has already started its ultrasound facility and evening shift.

The Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Dr. Javed Akram, and the Minister for Primary and Secondary Health, Dr. Jamal Nasir, were in attendance. During the meeting, briefings were given by the secretaries of the specialised healthcare and medical education and primary and secondary health department in Punjab.

The interim chief minister of Punjab presided over a meeting on axle load management at his office and gave instructions to take proactive measures to stop the deterioration of roads.

The meeting discussed introducing amendments to the Industry Rules of 1996 and the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance of 1965, creating a digital weighing policy, and putting digital weigh stations on a few of Punjab’s main roads.

The dashboard for each district will provide access to the weight information for each goods vehicle, and the PITB app will be connected to the weighing equipment in cement, sugar, sugar cane, fertiliser, and other factories. These actions are meant to support effective road management and safeguard the infrastructure from harm brought on by overloading.
