FIA has reportedly been instructed by PAC to move forward with investigation of multi-billion rupee corruption cases against Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has reportedly been instructed by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to move forward with the investigation of multi-billion rupee corruption cases against the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST).
The FIA’s investigation will aim to gather evidence and determine the extent of the corruption in Ministry of Science and Technology. The PAC is a parliamentary committee in Pakistan responsible for reviewing the financial affairs of the government and holding public officials accountable for their actions.
Details indicate that the PAC has directed the FIA to wrap up the investigation by February 23. Additionally, the agency has been directed by the parliamentary body to present the investigation’s findings to the PAC, AGPR, and Ministry.
The FIA is looking into 25 cases involving the Ministry right now. This case history spans the years 2017, 2018, and 2019. These cases involve errors made when contracts for the purchase of various materials were awarded to contractors.
Despite the fact that the contracts were given to the highest bidders, who were supposed to supply grade-A materials, the contractors only gave the Ministry grade-C materials. In this regard, the PAC, a parliamentary body in charge of monitoring public spending, also called FIA representatives last month.
The Islamabad Zone Director of the FIA was asked to provide an update on the cases. The detectives who were looking into these cases were also with the director.
