Mondelez International, a global food conglomerate, has unveiled its inaugural class of startups selected for the SnackFutures CoLab Tech accelerator program. This initiative is designed to spearhead the integration of cutting-edge technologies into the food industry, with a specific focus on alternative ingredients, food safety, advanced manufacturing, and regenerative agriculture.

The chosen entrepreneurs will engage in hands-on experiences, virtual sessions, mentorship, and gain access to Mondelez’s extensive global network of partners and experts. This collaborative effort will provide them with the opportunity to work closely with the company’s research and development team, contributing to its growth and innovation endeavors.

The objectives of the CoLab Tech program encompass a range of goals, including reducing carbon footprints, enhancing sensory experiences, refining nutritional profiles, and modernizing production processes within the chocolate, biscuits, and baked snacks sectors.

The selection process highlighted the abundance of creative solutions being developed worldwide to address challenges in the food industry. Computonics: Leveraging machine learning and metagenomics analysis to monitor pathogens.

Cultivated Biosciences: Applying fermentation technology to create a dairy-free, creamy fat ingredient.

Eggmented Reality: Using precision fermentation to develop tailored functional ingredients.

Epogee: Pioneers of a modified plant-based oil that reduces calories and fat without compromising mouthfeel, satiety, and texture.

Prote-in: Producers of carbon-negative, farm-free proteins utilizing continuous carbon dioxide fermentation technology.

SoilTech Wireless: Advancing wireless sensing technology and data analytics platforms to enhance the global agricultural supply chain.

Stephane Thermal Runs: Creating specialized sensors and software to optimize thermal profiling in baked snacks.

WNWN Food Labs: Employing fermentation techniques to produce alternative cocoa ingredients.
