UK Awards 46 Chevening Scholarships To Pakistani Scholars

The Chevening and Commonwealth scholarship recipients from Pakistan were honored by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott. 46 excellent Pakistani academics received Chevening scholarships from the UK this year after an extremely difficult screening procedure. This includes one transgender person and two female Hindu pupils.

Additionally, 23 Commonwealth scholars from Pakistan have been chosen, with 21 earning Master’s degrees and two seeking PhDs. These outstanding academics were chosen from all throughout Pakistan.

The British High Commissioner gave the year’s top female Chevening scholar the Asma Jahangir Award in memory of the late human rights activist Asma Jahangir. Due to a tie this year, this prize went to three deserving women: Varsha Deepak from Sindh, Anila Yousaf from Baluchistan, and Zaitoon Kareem from Baluchistan.
The Asma Jahangir Scholarship was introduced by the British High Commission in 2018, and nine female Chevening scholars have already received it.

The UK is now awarding Chevening scholarships for the first time, which are funded by UK-based partners. First, Swindon Town Football Club is partnering with Solent University or the University Campus of Football Business at Wembley Stadium to provide a one-year Master’s degree in Football Coaching or Science.

The second partnership is with the University of Essex, which is providing two scholarships in either heritage and museum studies or climate change research.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott announced the sending of 69 Pakistani students to the UK through the Chevening and Commonwealth scholarships, marking the 40th anniversary of the Chevening program.

These students, who will benefit Pakistan’s world-class higher education, will join over 2,000 Chevening and 1,500 Commonwealth alumni in Pakistan, highlighting the strength of the UK-Pakistan relationship.

In order to solve urgent global concerns and promote innovation, the researchers have chosen a wide variety of subjects and institutions for their study, including education, social justice, architectural engineering, and sustainability.

Chevening Scholarship applications for study in the UK year 2024–25 will be accepted starting on September 12 and ending on November 7.
