GDG Lahore Hosts Extraordinary Event To Launch Google Services In Pakistan

Several VCs and startup CEOs attended a dinner last week that was sponsored by GDG Lahore and Google Cloud to celebrate the introduction of Google Cloud services in Pakistan. There were more than 130 attendees, including more than 50 entrepreneurs and 5 venture investors.

Saad Hamid, a Google manager of app growth, gave the opening comments to the event. In his captivating keynote address, Aatif Awan, the founder of Indus Valley Capital, highlighted Google’s broad appeal and robust ecosystem, which has over 1 billion users across 9 products.

In this lecture, Google made a point of demonstrating its dedication to supporting startups by expanding the capabilities of the Google Cloud Platform to foster innovation and expansion within the regional tech scene.

He also discussed Pakistani entrepreneurs’ tenacity in the face of obstacles, both economic and otherwise. In addition to discussing the present financing environment, he emphasized Google’s passion for supporting Pakistani companies and accelerating their development.

Esna Ong, the Startup Success Manager for Google for Startups and the person responsible for Google Cloud’s entry into Pakistan, provided an engrossing account of operational improvement and automation, as well as the thrilling news of their “Google Cloud Liftoff” campaign.

This historic in-person bootcamp in Pakistan—the first-ever in-person Google Cloud Liftoff in the APAC region—promises to unleash the potential of Google Cloud services, covering everything from storage and AI to Big Data, significantly up-skilling the general public.

In Pakistan, Google Developer Groups, Women Techmakers, and Google Developer Experts have had a significant impact, according to Huzaifa Habib, Community Manager for Google’s South Asia Frontier Region.

Haris Nadeem, Manager at GDG Lahore, noted that the success of the VC & Startup Ecosystem Dinner “underscores our commitment to empowering Pakistan’s startup ecosystem.”

“We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Google Cloud and Google for Developers for their amazing assistance and teamwork in making this event a reality. We are committed to fostering the IT ecosystem in the area since this event is the start of an exciting journey.”

The Google for Startups Cloud Program is now available in Pakistan thanks to a partnership between GDG Lahore and Google Cloud. With the help of this program, startups, small and medium-sized companies, and local businesses may apply for free credits that could be worth up to $350,000 for AI-driven entrepreneurs, allowing them to use the Google Cloud Platform for innovation and growth.

The event recognized the hard work of Haris Nadeem, Community Manager for the Google Developer Group Lahore, as well as other community partners COLABS, Daftarkhwan, Katalyst Labs, Deosai Ventures, Ejad Labs, Redtone Digital Services, NSTP, and Indus Valley Capital.

Additionally, representatives from PITB, Fatima Gobi Ventures, Zayn Venture Capital, and Sarmayacar were present. They received merited praise for their unwavering dedication to fostering the startup and development environment.

The event evolved into a lively networking session as participants traded opinions, stories, and insights as they projected a bright future for Pakistan’s tech and startup scene. This cooperative effort has prepared the ground for a bright future of continuing empowerment, creativity, and cooperation within the local tech environment.
