World Celebrates Int'l Day Of Women And Girls In Science

During the launch of the 2023 national Teachers Day celebration, themed “Guru Insani Pemangkin Generasi Madani” on Tuesday (May 16) at Melaka International Trade Centre, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim suggested that the Education Ministry establish a task force to develop a mechanism for fostering children’s interest in science and technology-related subjects.

“I have requested that the ministry form a special task force to encourage children’s interest in such topics, in finding solutions to problems, and in discovering new fields of science and technology,” said Anwar Ibrahim.

“Considering that the world is moving quickly towards green technology, particularly in the automotive industry, he claimed that these topics are crucial. “

According to the most recent report, children are currently less interested in these subjects, especially those who fall into the B40 group. Along with the education minister Fadhlina Sidek and her deputy Lim Hui Ying, the event was also attended by the chief minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Anwar claimed that a study revealed a decline in young people’s interest in science and technology, particularly among urban and rural poor populations. Moving towards green technology and electric vehicles is a challenge for us and the nation, he continued.

Separately, Anwar urged teachers to continue supporting the leadership of the government and lifting the spirits of the populace so that Malaysia could regain its position as a great country in this region. “Let’s help this nation advance as a great nation in the region by leveraging the power of its language, cultures, values, and technologies.

“Our future will be bright, God willing, if the teachers are committed and work a little harder,” he said. The “Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan 2023” award was given to Datuk Dr. Nuinda Alias at the occasion, and Datuk Mazlan Mohamad was given the “Tokoh Kepimpinan Pendidikan Kebangsaan” 2023 award.
