For Lunar New Year, Chinese Kids Get 1 Extra Hour Of Online Games

The new division of Ghost Ship, known as Ghost Ship Publishing, will act as a “launchpad for independent video games in the rapidly expanding Danish games industry and beyond.”

Deep Rock Galactic’s creator, Ghost Ship Games, has revealed plans to start a publishing division to support and “lift up” smaller studios. In conjunction with Deep Rock Galactic’s livestream celebrating its fifth anniversary on March 2, Ghost Ship Publishing will reveal some of its upcoming releases.

According to Ghost Ship, the game’s “careful approach to open development and a flexible design philosophy” will serve as the cornerstone for all upcoming titles released by the studio.

Philosophy of open development and flexible design is not uncommon in the gaming industry, as many developers believe in the benefits of allowing players and fans to be involved in the development process and provide feedback. This can help create a more engaging and polished game, as well as build a strong community around it.

Sren Lundgaard, CEO of Ghost Ship Games, said: “Becoming a publisher is a way for us to give back to the industry and to help lift up both the Danish gaming scene and other small developers like ourselves across the globe.”

“Our mission is to support other developers by providing funding and marketing know-how while also assisting them in building a strong company. For us, starting a publishing company is a passion project, and we can’t wait to see it come to fruition.”

A publishing company is a logical next step for Ghost Ship, according to the studio’s CCO, Mikkel Martin Pedersen, who also noted that “the success of Deep Rock Galactic” has made the expansion possible. In October, we completed the third season of the game and relished the plague-themed update’s “pure carnage.”

Ghost Ship Games revealed earlier in the month that an in-game celebration for Deep Rock Galactic’s fifth birthday would take place from March 2 to March 16. Additionally, players will have the option to access the Deep Rock Galactic game’s 2018 launch version.
