Pakistan breaks world record of planting 50,000 saplings in a minute

Pakistan broke the record of planting 50,000 saplings in a minute to not only surpass their neighboring country (India) but also break the world record of planting 49,672 in a minute previously held by Bhutan. The plantation drive took place in Gujranwala to make it a cleaner and greener city.

Pakistan Breaks World Record Of Planting 50,000 Saplings In A Minute: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Malik Amin Aslam led the drive of Tree Plantation, in which 12,500 youth participated.

On this very auspicious occasion, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Pakistan National Committee Chairman Dr. Roomi S. Hayat extends his heartiest congratulations to SAPM and the Government for their spirited efforts to combat climate change.

This drive marks a tremendous step towards measures for restoring Ecosystems, through Nature based solutions, by fighting deforestation, and climate degradation. It also aligns with the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project initiated by Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

IUCN along with Government of Pakistan and other partners has been actively involved in conservation of nature and the measures required safeguarding it.

Pakistan was also the host for World Environment Day 2021 celebrations in partnership with UN Environment Programme (UNEP). The theme for this year’s celebration was restoration of Ecosystems with the focus on resetting our relation with nature.
