Newcomers guide for Escape from Tarkov

Escape from Tarkov (EFT) is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator game with massively multiplayer online (MMO) features and a story-driven walk through.

In this article, we will look at essential EFT tips that will surely improve your gaming experience as a newbie.

Tip 1: Play as a scavenger

What are these characters? Scavengers (SCAVs) offer you the opportunity to get into a game without risk and still loot something. Your loadout, such as weapons, health, etc., are randomly determined and you spawn at one of the scav spawns on the map. You can play the game as normal without having to be afraid of losing some of your stuff.

It makes sense to play a few rounds as a scav, especially at the beginning. After each round the cooldown is 20 minutes, but there’s hardly a better way to get to know the game at the start. By the way, scavs that are on the map do not necessarily have to be players. Scavengers can also be AI-controlled.

Tip 2: Get a second map ready

Why do I need an extra map? The in-game map only works if you actually have a map of the map you are playing on. However, knowledge of the map is necessary in order to reach the extraction points in a targeted manner or to loot certain locations or boxes.

Search the internet for the map you want and leave it open on your cell phone, tablet or on the second screen so that you can check your position at any time.

Tip 3: Plan your approach

How should I plan that? Don’t just go in any direction and, if you’re lucky, look for Loot and the exit. It is best to plan your route in detail and follow the path consistently. When you spawn, look around, pick your map and try to find out where you are. Many of the maps that you can find on the net not only show the extraction points but also boxes, bosses, POI and everything else that is important.

With a given route you have a bit of security and can set goals. First, reach house 1 and loot box A that is filled with EFT items cases then to the next point and so on. So, you know roughly what is coming and when you will reach the exit.

Tip 4: Dare little and get better

What does this mean? As a scav or with your main char, you are inferior to many players who have been in Tarkov for a long time. Avoid unnecessary encounters and play for victory to get ahead.

On the map, you can find particularly worthwhile boxes or spots with really good loot. But the veterans know these places too and could ambush you there.

Avoids dangerous areas. Play safe in the beginning so that you reach the extraction point and gradually improve with your character. As soon as you have better weapons, ammunition, skills, and equipment, you take the fight to the big guns. Until then, extreme caution is required!
