The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government offset a technology exchange programme with Iran to enlarge support in communication and works projects in the two countries, said KP Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Akbar Ayub Khan.

Akbar Ayub Khan articulated the views during a meeting with Iranian Consul General Baqir Beigi. On the occasion, Secretary C&W Shahab Khattak briefed the diplomat in detail about the mega projects.

The minister said Iran was providing construction material for the Bus Rapid Transit Project in Peshawar and the provincial government was deliberate to have such cooperation in future projects too.

The consul general said Iran was enthusiastic to invest in various projects in KP, besides providing technical support. It would also sustain in the construction and development of residential projects, including towns, colonies and high-rise buildings.

Iran would also require technical support of the KP government for the mega projects being executed in the country. The minister guaranteed that a team of senior engineers would soon visit Iran in this regard.

Akbar Ayub invited the consul general to visit Haripur district and scrutinize a variety of projects there. He said KP was blessed with natural resources and there was great extent for Iranian investors.

KP Minister for Communication and Works underlined the significance of strengthening relations through bilateral investment. He thanked the Iranian consul general for showing interest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) projects.
