STAFF REPORT ISB: The education access to every person needs special attention from public as well as private sector in order to tap the talent of underprivileged and less developed areas that lack basic facilities and infrastructure due to which the literacy rate sinks in those areas. A day-long conference of regional directors of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) was held to find out ways for promotion of education and providing access to the people to obtain education.


The participants of the conference exchanged ideas and improving administrative network through mutual cooperation. The students enrollment will be increased in the fresh admissions to accommodate the people from 44 regional centers.


Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor AIOU said while speaking on the occasion through video link, “The lack of educational access in less developed areas is a big challenge and AIOU is striving its best to extend distant learning programme to put maximum people in the education net to improve the literacy. AIOU staff and administration is highly motivated and regional level campaigns will soon be launched to compel poor people towards education”.


AIOU is one of the leading educational institutes of Pakistan known for distant education. The programmes launched for improving literacy are hallmark of the excellence and glimpse of right policies of AIOU.
