Staff Report ISD: Wateen Telecom and Telecommunication Infrastructure Company of Iran have signed a regional interconnect agreement for data provisioning and voice services at Capacity Middle East 2015 in Dubai, UAE. The fundamental resolve of the agreement is to facilitate the customers by improved services through high capacity international terrestrial cable connectivity at Taftan-Zahedan area.


This is the maiden agreement between Wateen Telecom and TICI. The agreement will be supported by Iran-Pakistan for IPLC transit and trade of capacity and further enabling capacities on underwater submarine cable systems, domestic cable systems in Pakistan and Iran, terrestrial cable systems directing towards Europe and connectivity to Afghanistan through Iran.


Mr. Junaid Sheikh, GM Enterprise and Global Carrier Business, Wateen Telecom, stated that they welcome this historic arrangement for traffic sharing between both countries thus putting in place building blocks for a new transit route in order to connect Pakistan, Iran with the region and Europe. I am also grateful to the organizers of Capacity Middle East for arranging this fantastic event which has given the regional operators the opportunity to meet their counterparts and make history.
