STAFF REPORT ISB: Minister of State and Chairman Board of Investment Dr Miftah Ismail has said Pakistan would seek technical assistance from Japan in renewable sources of energy, such as solar, wind, thermal and biogas.


Talking to Kazuyuki Nakane, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who visited BOI to discuss and explore the key areas of investment opportunities between Pakistan and Japan, Dr. Miftah Ismail, said Pakistans major issue is energy deficiency and the best way to overcome this issue is to invest in coal and renewable energy sources.


In response the Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan said that in this regard Japan intend to organize a Joint Business Dialogue in May 2015 in Pakistan to explore more investment opportunity in the country. The Japanese Investors in Pakistan are interested to make investment in the potential sectors like textile, coal, rice, agriculture, energy sector and automobile industry.


Kazuyuki Nakane also showed his great concern over Law and Order and Security being faced to Japanese investors in Pakistan. The Chairman, BOI informed them that the Federal Government and Provincial Governments are fully responsible to provide full protection to Japanese investors in Pakistan.
