STAFF REPORT LHR: Realising the growth potential of entrepreneurship, SMEDA is taking a number of initiatives for developing and promoting the sector.

SMEDA, in collaboration with University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, has recently organised an awareness seminar on Entrepreneurship as Career Option at UET Lahore premises.

The UET Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Prof. Dr. Parvaiz Mughal, in his opening address, highlighted the objectives of the seminar and underlined the importance of youth towards education and development of their skills.

He said that the country was faced with challenges like unemployment and entrepreneurship was a solution to the countrys woes.

Meanwhile, Smeda Manager Javed Afzal, while speaking to the audience, said the body had a wide network of regional offices in major cities of Pakistan and was involved in providing business counselling.

He also briefed the students about the various development projects of SMEDA that have been established with the help of funding provided by the government for the development and promotion of related business sectors in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, PECS Industries CEO Abid Iqbal also shared his entrepreneurial experience and progressive growth with the audience.
