STAFF REPORT ISB: Provincial Minister for Co-operatives, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, has said that the government has purchased more than seven lakh metric tons wheat from the farmers whereas process of wheat procurement is continuing speedily.

He stated this while recently talking to officials of the Food Department regarding wheat the ongoing procurement process.

Malik Iqbal Channar said that bardana for more than 22 lakh metric tons wheat has been distributed among the farmers. He said that although the government has fixed the target of 35 lakh metric tons wheat yet the Food Department has bardana for 40 lakh metric tons wheat, he added.

The minister said that on the directives of Punjab Chief Ministe, teams of provincial ministers are visiting every district and tehsil to monitor the wheat procurement process. He said that the government is taking practical steps for providing all facilities to the farmers at wheat procurement centres.
