Untitledabcdefg_optSTAFF REPORT KHI: Pakistan needs quality of research in order to be at par with the international standards and it could only be possible if researchers concentrate on the problem-solving approach, Chairman of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Dr Manzoor H Soomro, said this while recently held a two-day workshop on project formulation at the campus.

According to the PSF, the organizer of the conference, purpose of the event was to increase the research proposal writing skills of scientists working in different public sector universities and RandD organisations in Karachi.

Addressing on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor (VC) University of Karachi (KU) Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser welcomed the chairman PSF and thanked the PSF for organising the workshop at the campus.

He urged participants to take full advantage of the workshop and learn valuable techniques of formulating the quality project proposals.

On the occasion, Prof. Soomro also explained the role of PSF and emphasised the participants to take guidance from the PSF experts and speakers to formulate the fund winning quality proposals.

Earlier, Dr Mirza Habib Ali, Principal Scientific Officer, Natural Sciences Linkages Programme (NSLP), explained the role of PSF for the promotion of ST in the country and main objectives of the workshop.

He added that the workshop aimed at training the researchers in good proposal writing, create awareness about PSF-NSLP funding process and procedures and encouraging the scientists to prepare need-based research proposals within the NSLP priority areas.
