STAFF REPORT IBD: The winners of the Science Essay Competition have been given cash prize, certificates and shields at a ceremony recently held here. The essay contest “Science and Peace” was organised by National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) in collaboration with Technology Times.

The essays were evaluated by eminent scientists of Pakistan. According to the results, Muhammad Hamid Chaudhary from Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Bhawalpur, grabbed the first prize, Zia Mohy-ud-Din of Department of Bio-Medical Engineering, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, got the second position while the third prize went to Salman Haider Qureshi of Peshawar Medical College, Peshawar.

Chief Guest was the Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation, Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro, who gave awards, certificates and shields to the winners.

The main objective was to promote peace, building through scientific endeavors and to recognize technology uncovering the real causes of conflicts, the introduction of safe, scientifically proven technologies for  national security and global peace and to encourage the nation to adopt these tools to claim sovereignty over their lives. Sixty people participated in this competition.
