The government started ‘Pedal for Health’ campaign at Liaquat Gymnasium in Islamabad inaugurated by the Federal Minister for Health Services Aamir Mehmood Kiani by pedaling a cycle to keep away from NCDs.

The ultimate aim of the initiative is to stimulate the public to participate in healthy physical activities so that they remain protected from Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) like coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, and depression.

Confer to World Health Organization (WHO), physical immobility has been recognized as the third foremost risk factor for global mortality (6% of deaths globally), and is predictable to be the main cause for 27% of diabetes and approximately 30% of ischaemic heart disease anxiety.

The Ministry of National Health Services has initiated the procedure of developing a National Action Plan for Prevention and Control of NCDs. In this regard, a Task Force and a Technical Working Group for NCDs has been apprised.

Minister for Health Services Kiani affirmed that cycling is a healthy, low-impact exercise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages; it improves physical and mental health, stimulates and improves your heart, lungs and circulation, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels.”
