To prevent this global pandemic it is highly recommended following instruction by WHO which are good practices across the globe.
When the earliest reports of a coronavirus outbreak strike the airwaves in January (early), many people had earlier caught the disease around or in the city of Wuhan.
The coronavirus has spread rapidly, and the rate of infections increased day by day, in Wuhan and other cities of China isolated a huge number of affected persons and quarantined upon 50 million residents. Coronavirus has spread to move more than twenty states. The World Health Organization (WHO) proclaimed the disease a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern”.
Coronaviruses are transmitted between people and animals. Detailed studies found that SARC (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) was transferred from civet cats to human beings while MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) from Arabian camel to humans.
Initial symptoms of coronavirus contain fever, dry cough, muscle pain and fatigue. While other coronavirus symptoms include cough, fever, running nose, sore throat, headache and common feeling of illness (unwell).
Various known coronaviruses are circulating in many animals that have not affected the humans yet. In severe coronavirus cases sometimes, infection cause severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure which leads to death of a person.
Coronavirus is still in full swing these days, and its nature of characteristics will take time to interpret. The scale of coronavirus final and conclude impact will rely on only how transmissible it reveals itself to be and how fatal it is in those who sick—–properties that cannot be exactly calculated at this phase.
There is a clear probability that coronavirus may not be carried time to stop and prevent a huge global pandemic outbreak. That’s why countries have started arranging for that prospect now.
Risk evaluation
Evaluating the risks of coronavirus will get data and time. The fast rise in cases around the world clarifies that coronavirus is transmitted human to human, while scientific information about the patterns of its growth around most of the affected are now available to the governments, but still there is a long way to understand the spread pattern.
In past epidemic of respiratory disease, the rate of growth has slowed down, as people became more knowledgeable of the risks and took some steps to secure and protect themselves by covering their coughs, washing their hands, canceling large gatherings, staying home if sick and so on. But coronavirus continue to grow and spread quickly and widely, even scientists cannot judge accurately.
Controlling the growth of the virus needs both medical measures and public health. The coronavirus is physically a large virus, at just 125 nanometers with a surface of spike projections, too big to remain alive in the air for hours or it can travel more than a few feet.
Same as influenza, but this global pandemic novel coronavirus can spread through direct and indirect, both contacts. Direct contact takes place through the physical shifting of the microorganism among family members and friends through close association with oral secretions.
While indirect contact occurs when effected or an infected person sneezes or coughs, spreading coronavirus droplets on the surface of near areas, including bed rail, laptop, smartphone and knobs.
How to protect yourself and others
It is now proved that strongest and powerful measures is the general awareness about the better ways to avoid infection, for example keep away from infected persons, and avoid physical contact with them, wearing face masks and arrange proper hand hygiene.
China has overcome taking these precautionary measures with public health information (broadcast) transmit by radio or television or multiple means. And they managed to control this global pandemic. These steps can secure everyone as well as families.
Presently there is no vaccine to prevent global pandemic of coronavirus infection. The better way to protect themselves from infection is to avoid being vulnerable to this virus.
Wash your hands:
Hand hygiene is compulsory to avoid this virus to some extent. First wet your hands with clean running water, and use germs killing soap thoroughly including the back sides, between fingers and under nail areas also. Scrub your hands for 20 seconds at least then rinse. If water and soap are unavailable, use sanitizer that are alcohol based with minimum 60% alcohol.
Cover your mouth and nose:
During coughing and sneezing cover your nose and mouth with a handkerchief or tissue then threw it in the dust bin in safe way and wash your hands properly with soap. If you don’t have a tissue or handkerchief than use your elbow not sneeze or cough in your hands. Avoid touching your nose, eyes and mouth with dirty and unwashed hands.
Use Face masks:
As per WHO, the three layered face masks provide main protection because they stop and block liquid droplets. But they don’t block little aerosol particles that can enter through the material of the mask. In wearing mask eyes are exposed and there is a confirmation that some viruses can affect and infect an individual through the eyes.
Get medical help:
If a person has fever, shortness of breath and cough discuss your travel history with health care provider. Avoid close contact with sick people.
In affected areas if visiting live markets then avoid direct and unsafe contact with live animals.
If a person in an affected area then s/he should avoid eating under cooked or raw animal products and show care when contacting and handling raw meat, milk or organs of animals to keep away cross-contamination with uncooked foodstuffs.
Disinfect and clean routinely touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning wipe or spray.
Protect yourself while traveling:
Although international travel is almost ban everywhere, but it is recommended for avoiding unnecessary travels even intercity. If a person must travel to highly infected areas, then first discuss it with your medical practitioner and keep away from other people who are infected and avoid animals, going to meat market and animal markets.
Some remedies for coronaviruses:
There are no specific medications for illnesses caused by human coronaviruses. Many people with common human being coronavirus sickness will recover on their own, while person can do something to reduce their symptoms.
- Take steam as many times as possible
- Use fever and pain medications.
- Take hot shower because it helps ease a cough and sore throat.
If a person is lightly sick, then he should:
- Stay at home and take some rest.
- Drink plenty of liquids.
Human coronavirus can may be caused by lower respiratory tract sickness like bronchitis and pneumonia. This is more common in those people who have cardiopulmonary disease, individual with weakened immune systems, older adults and babies.
