STAFF REPORT IBD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has finally got a go-ahead signal from the Ministry of Information Technology for the auction of third generation cellular licences.

According to a statement, the regulatory authority is now planning to auction the frequency spectrum for cellular mobile broadband services and licence will be technology neutral and the licencees be able to deploy any technology including 3G/4G/LTE/ any other upcoming technologies.

It said that PTA has constituted a special committee for making preparations to conduct the auction in the most possible transparent manner, while a group of professionals will monitor the auctioning process.

For the awareness and information of potential investors, PTA is also planning to hold investors conferences inKarachiandIslamabad. International road shows will also be organized, the statement maintained.

It is pertinent to mention that the introduction of cellular mobile broadband services in the country will initiate a new economic cycle in the country and accrue great benefits for the national economy.
