The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced to digitalize tax collection system to combat the bribery. With in a year or two the FBR will substitute its current manual tax collection system with an automated and digital system.
Addressing the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), FBR Chairman Dr Jahanzeb Khan said that “Digitalization of the tax collection system is being done under hostile reforms at the FBR.”
The chairman said that thedepartment had already gathered data and information related to thousands of potential taxpayers and added, “We are going to merge the data with the under-developing digital tax collection system.”
Jahanzeb Khan said that information technology-based reforms were intended at simplifying the tax collection system to facilitate the taxpayers.
The new-fangled would end culture of corruption and harassment of taxpayers at the hands of tax collectors and added, “The system is aimed at facilitating the taxpayers, so that the business community could itself come forward to pay due taxes on time.”
