NSU Islamabad To Celebrate World Youth Skills Day 2023

World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) 2023 will be observed by the National Skills University Islamabad (NSU), an international centre for technical and vocational education and training.

In Pakistan, the federal system’s first-ever public skills university opened its doors in 2018. When Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, the university’s founding vice chancellor, arrived, the university started an official celebration of this day in July 2020.

The Vice Chancellor stated that we would observe this day in accordance with the theme decided upon for this year. The success stories of their best practises in skill education will be discussed by all faculty, trainers, and students.

Since 2014, a different theme has been used to commemorate this day on July 15 each year.

World Youth Skills Day 2023 will be held under the banner of “Skilling teachers, trainers, and youth for a transformative future.” It draws attention to the crucial role that educators such as teachers, trainers, and others play in preparing young people for the workforce and for active participation in their communities and societies.

It is crucial to provide young people with the high-quality education, training, and skills, according to UN Secretary-General António Guterres. This World Youth Skills Day serves as a reminder that teachers are leading this massive international effort.

Agile and adaptable skill sets are becoming more and more necessary due to technological advancements and changing labour market dynamics. We must give young people the tools they need to successfully navigate these changes.

Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is well positioned to meet these demands by lowering barriers to entry into the workforce, ensuring that the acquired skills are applicable, recognised, and certified, promoting green skills and practises, and providing opportunities for young people who are not currently enrolled in school, employment, or training to develop their skills.
