The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced that it will cease issuing no objection certificates to employees of medical teaching institutions seeking a resignation.

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has announced that it will cease issuing no objection certificates to employees of medical teaching institutions (MTIs) seeking a resignation.

This decision comes in response to several senior officials at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) wanting to resign following the replacement of the chairman of the board of governors.

Dr. Nausherwan Burki, a retired dermatologist who was instrumental in implementing health reforms throughout Pakistan Tehreek-e-rule Insaf’s in 2014, was replaced by Dr. Zubair Khan by the interim administration.

The Chief Minister’s Advisor on Health has decided to forbid the issuance of no-objection certificates and the acceptance of resignations from employees of medical teaching institutions, according to a notification released by the provincial health department.

The Boards of Governors (BoGs) of a few of the province’s tertiary care hospitals had some members removed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday.

After the board members contested their removal, the Peshawar High Court reinstated some of the boards that had previously been disbanded by the government.

“In exercise of powers conferred under Sub- Section 3 of Section-5 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Medical Teaching Institution Reforms. Act 2015 (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Act No. IV of 2015) (amended from time to time), the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is pleased to remove Dr. Nausherwan Burki as Chairperson/Member of Board of Governors of Medical Teaching Institution, Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, on account of reasons mentioned Sub-Section-9 of Section-5 in the Act ibid along with other allied reasons i.e. political affiliation and recommendation by defective/defunct Search and Nomination Council resulting in his illegal appointment, with immediate effect in the best public interest,” the government stated in the notification.

As chairperson of the BoG LRH, the government has replaced Dr. Burki with Dr. Zubair Khan, a retired dermatologist in LRH. The PTI’s well-publicized health reforms were created by Dr. Nausherwan Burki, a cousin of PTI chairman.

According to reports, the notification was justified as a result of the important choices the previous administration made, such as the acquisition of sizable funds and the appointment of numerous employees. As a result, the new administration wants these people to be present when power is transferred.
