Education Ministry offers fully funded scholarship to Syrian students

With the aim of digitising learning processes and building on improved learning outcomes, TikTok and edtech startup Edkasa are collaborating with the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) to expand the ExamReady scholarship program to more than 10,000 deserving students in the province. SEF and Edkasa signed the letter of understanding during a ceremony in Karachi.

ExamReady is a first-of-its-kind, STEM-focused digital learning programme that TikTok, Edkasa, and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) introduced in early 2022 to support online education and distance learning for high school students.

The ExamReady scholarship program, which will award online study grants to 18,000 deserving students from all over Pakistan, was introduced earlier this year.

Scholarships for Sindh’s post-primary students in grades IX to XII will be made possible by the collaboration with the Sindh Education Foundation.

This is the most recent action that TikTok and Edkasa have taken to enhance learning outcomes by utilising technology. Secondary and high school students will benefit from an exceptional online learning environment thanks to the Edkasa app.

Over 500 instructional videos were made available online as part of the ExamReady campaign, which aimed to aid millions of Pakistani students. With close to 100 million videos uploaded since TikTok’s launch and over 665 million views, these videos quickly became a hit among Pakistani students.

The short-form video platform is changing its focus in order to have a bigger impact on the communities where it operates, and Edkasa is doing the same with TikTok. Due to partnerships with apps like Edkasa, which has over 480,000 downloads, TikTok has been able to increase value.

Numerous student and parent testimonies have also shown that those who have struggled in the traditional classroom learning model because of a stressed-out system have benefited greatly from the app and TikTok’s platform.

Zara Basharat Higgs, Manager Public Policy Programs and Partnerships for South Asia and Pakistan, believes that education is a fundamental right and that technology has an integral role in improving access and outcomes for students.

They are expanding their ExamReady scholarship programme in collaboration with Edkasa and the Sindh Education Foundation to provide quality education to more students in underprivileged areas of Sindh. They hope to continue to have a positive influence on young people’s lives.

Fahad Tanveer, CEO of Edkasa, believes that quality education can be made more accessible for children. TikTok’s strategic support and the Sindh Education Foundation’s initiative have enabled Edkasa to support students’ learning on the Edkasa app throughout Sindh.

Abdul Kabir Kazi, managing director of the Sindh Education Foundation, states that the Government of Sindh has taken steps to promote and develop education in Sindh, primarily through Public-Private Partnership initiatives benefiting 850,000 students in 2600 schools and non-formal education centres.

He continued, “ExamReady is a quality initiative that has given students access to top-notch online content. As the students were getting ready for their board exams, the intervention could not have come at a better time. Thanks to this partnership, our students now have a platform to continue developing their skills. The Grade XII students, who are very enthusiastic, have also widely acknowledged the added feature of preparation for the SAT and entrance exams.”
