The Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) created and sponsored the “Wu Wen Jun AI Science & Tech Award” with the help of Wu Wenjun, a pioneer and innovator in Chinese intelligent science research, the first recipient of China’s highest national science and technology award, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The “highest award for AI science and technology in China” was formally established on January 6th, 2011.

Founded in 1981, CAAI stands for the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. In the field of intelligence science and technology, it is currently the only national-level academic association recognised by China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs.

The Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications is the parent institution of the CAAI, a four-star (AAAA) social organisation. It is authorised to recommend academicians to China’s two academies as an official member of the China Association for Science and Technology (the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering).
