Cisco Academy to be set up in UCP Lahore

The global initiative Cisco Academy to be set up in Lahore in UCP (University of Central Punjab). UCP now formally certified to provide courses and certifications like CCNA and CCNP  by Cisco Academy.

Dr. Ahmad Kazmi unlocked the ceremony, commends the importance of Cisco Academy; and explained how UCP is going to adjust their curriculum for Cisco Academy to function properly. Courses like Entrepreneurship to be added in pertinent departments with the cooperation of Cisco.

Mr. Mohamed Jinini, Regional Head Cisco Academy then thanked the UCP faculty for their generosity. He accentuates the role of Cisco by sharing the fact that 70%of the devices connected to the internet are Cisco made.

The academy is offering entry-level courses not only engineers but also for students of Law and Medicine, further added.

Cisco Academy offers 20 courses in different categories like exploratory courses, cybersecurity courses and market certifications (advanced courses).

Students qualified for advanced coursed should be at least in their current year. Students with advanced certification can apply for jobs directly after certifications. While no official fees were discussed during the event.

The prices usually charged for the certifications offered by Cisco Academy:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (Routing & Switching) 15,000/-
  • Cisco Certified Network 9Professional (Routing & Switching) 15,000/-
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (Security) 10,000/-
  • Cisco Academy Instructor(CCNA) (Cisco Certified Network Associate) 45,000/-
  • Cisco Academy Instructor (CCNP) (Cisco Certified Network Professional) 45,000/-

Mr. Jinini concluding saying that meeting scheduled with HEC for a re-launch program to create more job opportunities in Pakistan with Cisco.

This is the right time for Pakistani market to use such a platform and reinforce the skill-set of youth in order to break through the tech market.

Cisco’s current investments in this podium are around $200 million. Cisco reserved to invest 2/3 of their revenue in such opportunities to make it their way of giving back to the community.
