Vice Chancellor Kohat University of Science and Information Technology (KUST) Prof. Dr Sardar Khan has been elected as a Fellow of the Pakistan academy of Sciences (PAS), said a notification issued here on Saturday.

PAS was established in 1953 and is a famous Academy in the world to promote science education in the country. The Academy has 117 fellows including 83 national and 34 international.

Dr Sardar Khan is known for his research work and teaching during his 22 years of service. He has expertise in pollution and environmental sciences. He has remained a member of different academic sciences.  Dr. Sardar Khan had completed his PhD from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing China. He has specialty in the field of Environmental and Food Chain Contamination and Health Risk, Remediation of Contaminated Soil and Water, Biochar Application and its Environmental Benefits, Pesticide Bioaccessibility and Bioaccumulation, and Pollution Bioassay.

He has done three Post docs (organic waste resourcing, soil remediation and biochar application for environmental and agronomic benefits). He has published 93 research papers in the refereed international journals with total impact factor more than 250 and supervised 15 PhD and 23 MPhil/MS scholars’ dissertations.

In recognition to his research, academic and professional achievements, Dr. Khan has been awarded with several international and national awards/honors by various organizations including Young International Scientist award-China, Best University Teacher Award, Productive Scientists of Pakistan (second in the field of earth and environmental sciences) award by the Pakistan Council of Science and Technology; seven times Research Productivity awards (2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010 of B, B, C, C, D, E and F categories, respectively) by the Pakistan Council of Science and Technology and High citation award by the Elsevier Publisher on the basis of high citation of the paper published in Environmental Pollution.
