Justice Project Pakistan held a conference “Technology for Justice Forum (T4JF) in Lahore on Saturday, with the assistance of the Federal Republic of Germany, which aimed to enhance technology in the Pakistani legal system.

Justice Project Pakistan held a conference “Technology for Justice Forum (T4JF) in Lahore on Saturday, with the assistance of the Federal Republic of Germany, which aimed to enhance technology in the Pakistani legal system.

The conference was devoted to promoting technology-based innovations in order to bring legal reforms to Pakistan and to identifying ways to further enhance the legal system through the use of technological solutions.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan the Justice of Supreme Court Pakistan were present at the conference as a Chief Guest.

Among the other guests, Taimur Malik (Partner Clyde & Co), Faisal Aftab (Co-Founder Zayn Capital), Mohammad Ahmad Pansotan (founding partner Ahmed & Pansota), Beau Seil (Co-Founder Patamar Capital), Justice Ali Bakir Najafi (Judge Lahore High Court), Senator Syed Ali Zafar (Chairperson Committee on Law & Justice), and Yasir Humayun (Minister Information Technology & Higher Education) were also present.

‘Vakeel Online,’ an online legal platform aiming at creating a link between justice, legal practitioners, and actual people, was commended at the Technology for Justice Forum.

Portals like Vakeel Online will help in digitization of legal system in Pakistan, helping it become more transparent and efficient.

Speaking on the occasion Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Hassan Khawar said, “Technology is bringing about a revolution in the world and for any society to grow and work, rule of law sits at the very foundation. If these two things come together, it can really become a game-changer to fix what lies in the route of our society, I think it will be a great step for Pakistan”.

Chief Guest Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan said some words during the conference as well, “The integration of Technology in the field of law is the future, we must be prepared for it. I invite you all to join hands with us in our quest to plus help create a society & a legal system which is just and fair and where the Rule of Law Prevails.”

Sarah Belal the Executive Director of Justice Project Pakistan was hopeful of materializing the plans and initiatives in the upcoming months.

Justice Project Pakistan is a non-profit organisation established in Lahore that advocates for Pakistani inmates who are facing the toughest punishments both at home and abroad.

The conference provided a platform for a public-private sector conference to push for greater and more effective technological incorporation into legal reform.
