The agriculture experts have advised the growers to use latest technology including drip irrigation as maximum produce can be achieved with prudent use of water.
A spokesman of the Agriculture (Extension) Department said here Thursday that under this system, water is supplied to the roots of plants in the form of well-calculated and required drops which is quite enough to fulfill its water needs for its optimum growth. We should promote this system as we can save precious water to bring unclaimed land under plough, he added.
Explaining the benefits of this system, he told APP that this system helps the salts to move deep into the soil which was easily absorbed by the roots of the plant.
Responding to a question about organization of training workshops for farmers, he said that it will definitely play a major role in replacing flood irrigation system which was sheer wastage of water as compared to efficient drip irrigation system.
