General Motors Has Just Officially Launched The New 2022 Buick Regal GS In China, A Year After The April 2020 Debut Of The Redesigned Nameplate In The Asian Country. The automaker is introducing the second model year of the mid-size sedan’s mid-cycle refresh, which is now exclusive to the Chinese market, with the sporty GS variant first.

The newly launched 2022 Buick Regal GS maintains all the main attributes of the recently refreshed model, including the updated front end that adopts the latest evolution of Buick’s design language and the brand’s most modern powertrain. As a result, the 2022 Regal GS received only a few minor changes, like a more effective braking system and an improved infotainment system.

Styling-wise, the 2022 Buick Regal GS presents a striking appearance, allowing it to distinguish itself from the other trim levels thanks to a specific three-dimensional grille mesh, more aggressively designed bumpers with prominent silver trim, side skirts as well as blacked out wheels and mirror caps. In addition, the red GS badging and red-painted brake calipers further highlight its sporty character.

SAIC-GM said it performed some technical changes to improve the performance and driving dynamics of the 2022 Buick Regal GS, including a slight tweak to the turbocharger to improve throttle response, reducing the 0-to-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint to 7.1 seconds. In addition, the brake system now includes more efficient vented discs at the rear, along with red-painted calipers to match the front ones.

Mechanically, the 2022 Buick Regal GS also keeps the same powertrain configuration that was introduced last year. The turbocharged 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine is the only choice, producing 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and is matched to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift technology.

The 2022 Buick Regal GS is now available throughout the Buick dealership network in China, which for the past few years has been the American brand’s main volume market. The sporty Regal variant is offered in two trim levels, both with a high level of standard features, a suite of advanced driver assistance systems and the latest infotainment system with wireless phone projection. Suggesting pricing is as follows:

  • 2022 Regal GS Elite: 218,800 CNY (about $33,810 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • 2022 Regal GS Prestige: 249,800 CNY ($38,600 USD)
