That’s what organizers for JOSHUA, Environmental Justice Task Force said as they hosted an Earth Day cleanup event near Lambeau Cottage.
Sunday afternoon, a group of volunteers spent two hours picking up trash and litter near the shoreline and along the trials.
“We went along the water and the trials, cleaned up the garbage and debris so that the community can enjoy the parks free of trash,” said Maureen Perkins, JOSHUA Community Organizer.
Volunteers said they do this so that the rest of the public can continue enjoying the environment the best way possible.
“This area is also important for breeding frogs and migratory birds passing through. So those are just a few of the things this area is important for,” said Bobbie Webster.
Organizers also say they urge people to clean their shoes before going hiking as that’s one of the number one ways invasive species get brought into their trials.
