STAFF REPORT ISB: The government will draft a new textile policy focusing on value-addition and boosting exports will be ready by 30th June this year.

Minister for Textile Industries Abbas Khan Afridi has recently informed the National Assembly.

He informed the House that cloth exports have registered seven per cent increase during the current financial year as compared to the same period last year.

Pakistan has recently achieved the GPS Plus status from the European Union which would prove to be a turning point in the countrys enhanced exports especially textiles.

Though the government has reiterated to improve the energy generation in the country and in this regard has initiated a couple power plants, yet it will take years to curtail the power shortfall, which would improve the textile exports to Europe.
