STAFF REPORT IBD: Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has installed 13 more water filtration plants across the country under the project “Water Quality Monitoring in Rural Areas of Pakistan and Installation of Low Cost Water Conditioning and Filtration Units (Phase-II)”.
According to details, these filtration plants have been installed in rural areas of different cities including Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Mianwali, Norowal, Faisalabad, Vehari, Mitiari, Badin, Umerkot, Nasirabad, Jacobabad, Mansehra and Islamabad.
While the project for installation of plants at Khairpur (Faizgunj, Kot Diji), Quetta, Zhob and Muzaffarabad is also initiated, spokesperson PCRWR Lubna Naheed told the media.
PCRWR undertook five Research and Development (RandD) projects during the year 2012-13 in areas of water quality, water management, and rainwater harvesting and desertification control.
During FY 2012-13, CRWR installed 7 water filtration plants in rural areas,constructed 11 leaky structures (check dams) and excavated 2 ditches, 10 check structures and 15 bandats for rainwater harvesting and improvement of groundwater recharge along with watershed management activities in Balochistan and established 12 water quality testing laboratories.
