STAFF REPORT IBD: The Directorate of Science and Technology (DOST) under its developmental scheme titled DFandTC has taken an initiative in order to facilitate the local institutions, academia, organizations and individuals in designing and capacity building of general public and technicians and para-technicians through conducting trainings and workshops on diverse disciplines.


“We have started facilitating institutions, cademia, organizations and individuals that would go a long way in boosting capacity building in designing,” said a spokesperson of the Directorate of Science and Technology.


She said that the DoST has recently conducted a two-week free short training course on industrial manufacturing training/CNC at the Precision Systems Training Center (PSTC), PCSIR in which 46 trainees from different industries were trained.


She also mentioned the 8-week free training course on computer-aided design and computer-aided design manufacturing which was successfully organized in collaboration with PCSIR to enhance the skills of the general public in which 16 trainees had got training.


The spokesperson also revealed that the DoST has signed an MoU with the Pakistan Gems and jewellery Development Company for the Gems and Jewellery Manufacturing and Training Center in the field of gems and jewellery to enhance technical skills of local people and encourage self-entrepreneurship.


Under another MoU signed with NIDA, free training courses were also conducted in 10 engineering trades, she said adding through these training workshops as many as 1000 trainees will be trained.
