STAFF REPORT IBD: The World Bank Mission has recently reviewed the progress that has been achieved by the government Pakistan to achieve the collaborative targets in the Information and Communication and (ICT).


The WB team has recently called on Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman in Islamabad with special focus on future developments in the ICT policies.


During the meeting, the minister explained to the mission the efforts that have been started by the new government and the vision that has been formulated for the ICT sector in the next five years.


The mission was keen in sharing its viewpoint on what they considered as their key objectives while working with the government of Pakistan.


It was agreed on the occasion, that the both the sides would continue holding talks in the upcoming days with the relevant ministry officials regarding different ICT themed matters, which are also under the focus of the mission, and proceed with completion of formalities to achieve targets within shortest timelines.


The mission was represented by Team Leader and Regional ICT Coordinator Tenzin Dolma Norbhu, who met with the minister at the Ministry of IT to discuss possible collaborations on ICT projects.


The mission also discussed the proposal for the Technology Development Projects that would be initiated through the establishment and set up of holistic Technology Parks and Centre of Excellence for developing open source software and associated activities.
