Social media stormed with criticism after the port city’s administration failed to make the arrangements to tackle the long-sought issue of urban flooding despite the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) earlier forecasting a third spell of monsoon.

Netizens took this opportunity to flaunt their sense of humour, sharing hilarious videos, photographs, and memes as the city remained in dire straits due to poor administration and shoddy infrastructure, with many questioning the PPP-led Sindh government as well as the ruling PTI’s lawmakers, who make up the majority.

A few shared snaps of them enjoying a plate of pakoras — the staple food during the rainy season — with a view of Karachi’s inundated roads while others sarcastically compared their locations with scenes from Neelum Valley, the northernmost district in Pakistan’s Azad Kashmir.

Some took a jibe on the poor drainage system of the city that cannot sustain the heavy rainfall for long.

With Eid-ul-Azha just around the corner, citizens were found tackling multiple challenges during this monsoon spell as they also came up with interesting ways to transport their animals in order to save them from thunderstorms.
