07112012060STAFF REPORT KHI: Pakistan needs to have more libraries in every nook and corner of the country tin order o accelerate the pace of economic and social progress. The National Library of Chemical Sciences will offer various modern library courses free of charge to Pakistani librarians.

“Now the technology drives the role of libraries, which indicates that Pakistani librarians need to be equipped with latest Library System,” said by Director International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University, Prof. Dr Iqbal Ch. while talking to visiting librarians at the ICCBS.

Referring to the National Library of Chemical Sciences he said it is considered one of the largest libraries of this region, which contains more than 25,000 printed books, 50,000 online books and 25,000 online journals, while the latest chemical database is exclusively available at this library.

Dr. Iqbal added that this library is open to all Pakistani professors, doctors, scientists and research scholars of Chemistry and allied subjects, it will also offer various courses on the latest library system free of cost to make Pakistani librarians acquainted with the most modern techniques and systems.

He further said that the library is an integral component of ICCBS library network, with sister libraries at the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, Industrial Analytical Center, and Plant Biotechnological Wing.
