The Punjab Chief Minister inaugurated an ambitious skills development program on Monday aimed at equipping young people with essential IT skills to improve their employability prospects. The CM’s Skills Development Programme was launched through a digital ceremony with students at the Government Technology College for Women.

In her address, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of the initiative, highlighting its potential to transform the futures of many young individuals in Punjab. “Under this project, 4,000 youth will be trained across 35 TEVTA institutes in various cities,” she announced.

The program is designed to provide training in a range of high-demand IT courses, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, graphic design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and game development. By focusing on these advanced disciplines, the initiative aims to prepare students for the modern job market and significantly enhance their employment opportunities.

The Punjab government has committed to offering this high-quality training free of charge, recognizing it as a fundamental right of the youth. This effort addresses a gap that has long been neglected, ensuring that the next generation has the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven world.

Maryam Nawaz elaborated on the program’s scope and future expansion plans. Currently, the initiative aims to train 4,000 students annually, with a long-term vision of increasing this number to 40,000 students per year. This expansion reflects the government’s dedication to scaling up efforts to meet the growing demand for skilled IT professionals.

The chief minister also highlighted the prestigious nature of the program’s certifications. Upon completion of their courses, students will receive certifications from globally recognized organizations such as Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco, and Unity. These certifications are expected to significantly boost the employability of the graduates, making them competitive candidates in both local and international job markets.

In addition to the technical training, the program emphasizes practical, hands-on experience, preparing students to tackle real-world challenges. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application, the initiative aims to produce well-rounded professionals ready to contribute to the tech industry immediately upon graduation.

The launch of the CM’s Skills Development Program marks a significant milestone in Punjab’s educational and economic landscape. By investing in the IT skills of its youth, the Punjab government is not only addressing current unemployment issues but also paving the way for sustained economic growth and development in the region.
