DEWA Reports 12.5 Million Digital Transactions, Boosting Smart City Vision

DEWA’s comprehensive digital infrastructure has played a pivotal role in achieving a remarkable smart adoption rate of 99.62 percent for its services.

In a remarkable leap towards digital transformation, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced a significant surge in digital transactions conducted by its customers, reaching around 12.5 million in 2023.

This marks a substantial increase of approximately 25 percent from the around 10 million digital transactions recorded in 2022, reaffirming DEWA’s pivotal role in advancing Dubai’s vision to become the smartest and happiest city globally.

The surge in digital transactions reflects DEWA’s commitment to supporting the visionary leadership’s goals, particularly the ambition to position Dubai as the epicenter of the global digital economy. With a focus on enhancing customer experiences, DEWA has become a pioneer in leveraging cutting-edge technologies to provide seamless, real-time, and secure digital services to its stakeholders.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, emphasized the alignment of their efforts with the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Additionally, Al Tayer highlighted the role of DEWA in transforming Dubai’s government into a fully smart model, in accordance with the vision set forth by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

DEWA’s comprehensive digital infrastructure has played a pivotal role in achieving a remarkable smart adoption rate of 99.62 percent for its services. Al Tayer underscored the organization’s commitment to employing disruptive technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain, to optimize service delivery. By the end of 2023, DEWA successfully integrated more than 90 projects with 65 government and private organizations, further solidifying its digital footprint.
