Revolutionizing Hajj Operations: Launch Of Digital App For Pilgrims

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT) has launched a mobile app designed to streamline Hajj operations for pilgrims. The app, developed in record time by the National Information Technology Board (NITB), aims to enhance the overall Hajj experience for pilgrims through digitalization.

Caretaker IT Minister and Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs jointly unveiled the application, marking a milestone in the country’s accelerated digitalization efforts directed by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The Hajj application offers a range of features to facilitate pilgrims throughout their journey. Pilgrims can register using one-time passwords (OTPs) received via SMS, obtaining a unique ID based on their CNIC and application number. The app enables users to update personal information, including contact details and identification information. Additionally, pilgrims can track their Hajj application status in real-time, providing clarity on whether their application is submitted, successful, unsuccessful, or refunded.

Key features of the application include the ability to access personal information, group details, Mehram information, helper details, additional facilities, Hajj dues, nominee information, bank account details, and Hajj training schedules.

The app also displays flight details, including flight numbers, departure cities, dates, and times for both departure and return flights. Comprehensive information about accommodations in Makkah and Madinah is available, including sector, building, and room details. Pilgrims can submit complaints, requests, and general inquiries through the application.

One notable aspect of the Hajj app is its multilingual functionality, allowing users to switch between Urdu and English for easy understanding. Caretaker IT Minister emphasized that the app’s offline map feature facilitates pilgrims in choosing the shortest route to their destination, with the added ability to share their location. Multiple destinations can be added to the application, providing enhanced convenience.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs praised the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of IT and NITB, emphasizing the importance of upgrading the existing Hajj system with technology. He noted that the Hajj Application serves as a centralized platform seamlessly integrating with the Ministry’s existing systems, providing an efficient and modernized experience for pilgrims.

The Pak Hajj app is currently available for download on the Google Play Store, catering to Android users. However, it is not yet accessible on the Apple App Store. The launch of this digital solution represents a significant stride towards incorporating technology into day-to-day affairs, ensuring a smoother and more informed Hajj experience for pilgrims.
