The nominations for the highly anticipated 2023 Game Awards have been revealed, showcasing the industry’s best games and creators of the year. Two standout sequels, Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment and Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios, emerged as the frontrunners with eight nominations each, including a nod for Game of the Year.

The competition for Game of the Year includes the following titles: Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games, Resident Evil 4 from Capcom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder from Nintendo, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, also from Nintendo.

In the category of Best Adaptation, notable film and series nominations include “Castlevania: Nocturne” (Netflix), “Gran Turismo” (Sony Pictures), “The Last of Us” (HBO), “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” (Illumination/Universal Pictures), and “Twisted Metal” (Peacock).

Nintendo emerged as the most nominated publisher with 15 nominations, followed by Sony Interactive Entertainment/PlayStation with 13, Xbox (including Bethesda and Blizzard) with 10, and Epic Games with nine.

This year’s Game Awards will be the 10th edition, streaming live from the Peacock Theater in L.A. on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023. The event will be accessible across more than 30 platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, TikTok Live, and Twitter’s X. The ceremony promises not only to reveal the winners but also to feature premiere announcements, trailers, live music performances, and celebrity appearances.

Fans have the opportunity to participate in the selection process by voting online for their favorite nominees through Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. PT. The Game Awards also offers voting through its official Discord server, allowing fans to engage in a live watch party on Dec. 7 and react to the winners in real time.

With nominations spanning 112 different games, individuals, teams, and events, the 2023 Game Awards celebrate excellence across multiple genres and platforms. The nominees are chosen by a global jury comprising individuals from over 100 media publications and influencer outlets.

The Game Awards is executive produced by Geoff Keighley and Kimmie Kim, with LeRoy Bennett as creative director and Richard Preuss as director. The event promises to be a grand celebration of the gaming industry, showcasing the innovation and talent that have defined the year.
